Seminars

Letchworth Roofing hosts a series of roofing seminars, designed as a “talking shop” and an opportunity for main contractors, specifiers, architects and surveyors to meet and discuss the latest developments and changes in roofing systems, techniques, regulations, etc. They are generally held as Breakfast Meetings, followed by a 1-1½ hour presentation and lecture, thus minimising disruption to people with busy diaries and schedules. Many of the presentations are CPD qualifying.

Addtionally Letchworth Roofing has been providing a number of “tailor-made” seminars/presentations to a number of proactive leading surveying practices, and these have proven to be extremely popular.  With nearly 40 years’ experience and offering a totally independent, unbiased specification writing service, we can talk with authority on a range of topical roofing-related subjects, eg Health & Safety considerations in undertaking roof maintenance, asbestos roofs (overcladding vs. stripping and re-sheeting).

Past Seminars

9 September 2009 - Our previous CPD seminar was held jointly with Kingspan Insulated Panels Ltd and Alumasc.  This seminar was held again at the Business Design Centre in Islington and Kingspan took the opportunity to not only talk about its existing product range but it's innovative range of wall and facade coverings:- Thermatile, Thermastone, Woodtherm, Thermabrick and Thermatallic.  Alumasc delivered an extremely interesting and informative presentation on green roofing types, problems and solutions when specifying green roofs and recent case studies and benefits.

3 June 2009 - Seminar co-hosted with Kingspan Limited at The Goldsmith Centre, Letchworth.  This seminar proved to be extremely popular and was a “sell-out”.  Over 50 attendees saw the latest products launched by Kingspan, who, despite the economic downturn, have shown great initiative and innovation in bringing new panels to the market.  Particularly of interest was the extensive cladding range now available, which can cater for almost any building requirement.  There is even an imitation wood cladding panel.  The event was so popular that we have been asked to host this seminar again later in the year.  To accommodate our London clients this will be held at the Business Design Centre in Islington.  The choice of venue is appropriate for our seminars, as Letchworth Roofing was involved with a major re-roofing project on this building in 2008 at a cost of £1.3 million.  The historic landmark building was the original Agricultural Hall and was the first venue for both Crufts and the Motor Show.

25 March 2009 - Roofing Maintenance Seminar at The Business Design Centre, Islington.   This seminar was co-hosted by Letchworth Roofing and Sarnafil, the market leader in single ply roofing systems, working together to offer roofing solutions to all those involved with roofing maintenance, renewals and new work projects.   

26 November 2008 - Letchworth Roofing brought its 2008 programme of seminars to an end with a focus on Safety in Roofing, held at the Business Design Centre, Islington as a Breakfast Seminar. This was a repeat of the seminar held on 5 November, enabling our London-based clients to take advantage of this centrally-based venue.

5 November 2008 - Safety Focus: Held in conjunction with Eurosafe, a specialist supplier and installer of roof-edge and ‘man-safe’ systems. Over 40 attendees. The seminar was presented by Letchworth Roofing’s Senior Surveyor, John Chillman, who introduced the new Letchworth Roofing/Fixsafe system. This is a joint development by Filon and Letchworth Roofing which revolutionises the approach to rooflight replacement.  

10 September 2008 - Important Changes to Fire Regulations/Typical Roofing Problems and Solutions: Held in conjunction with Rockwool, a very interesting and informative presentation was given on changes in legislation.

23 July 2008 - Green Roofing: Owing to the popularity of the presentation on 25 June, this lecture was repeated.

25 June 2008 - Green Roofing, in conjuction with Bauder Limited.  A lively and well-attended presentation, demonstrating Letchworth Roofing’s expertise in green and “living” roofs.  The benefits of these systems were demonstrated by Bauder, incorporating water retention, minimising risk caused by flash storms, environmental and sustainable energy benefits.  A practical demonstration followed at Letchworth Roofing’s premises.
