However, our Board recognise the importance of keeping abreast of changing technology and market forces, with a belief that future prosperity depends on employing new professional skills in key areas when required. Our current work force is a testament to the Board’s commitment to maintain its’ position as market leaders. Training Letchworth Roofing is one of the few companies with an emphasis on employing a well-trained, direct workforce. Apprentices are recruited each year to attend a 2 year college course with the CITB. Training covers Flat Roofing, Sheeting & Cladding and Slating & Tiling. After achieving their NVQ further on the job training is given, after approx 12 months our apprentices complete their training and are promoted to Industrial Roofers. Experience and aptitude for site management will lead to Ganger & Foreman status. Continued training of staff is undertaken to ensure good knowledge of changes in work techniques, safety and CDM regulations. Skills matrices are in place for all positions within the company and training plans have been developed for all individuals, ensuring that each employee has the required knowledge to carry out their functions. Contracts Managers and Operatives have attended courses on SMSTS, PASMA, IPAF. All our contracts staff and operatives carry CSCS Cards, we provide OSAT Training through the CITB for new employees to gain an NVQ to enable them to obtain their CSCS Card.
